2019 Newsletters
Winter 2019
Happy New 2020!! January 2nd marked the five years of living with Patrick somewhere else. It is nearly impossible for me to believe that we have managed to live this long without him. But, we have not only lived, we have managed to THRIVE. This organization was born from our grief and with your support, we continue to help hundreds of kids each year. We are excited for what 2020 brings our way. See you soon at our next fundraiser!
Tickets are on sale now for our next fundraiser! Once again, Resolution Studios, along with Cinespace Film Studios shall sponsor our Film Showcase on March 7, 2020. The ticket price shall include complimentary wine, beer, soft drinks, food, great movies and the opportunity to schmooze with Chicagoland’s film industry veterans. We will also have our incredible raffle with prizes from some of our nation’s top Film Industry Vendors like Panavision and Keslow. Come on out and enjoy good movies, food, drink and people!!
Patrick Lives On represented at The Chicago Marathon
There are many ways to show support and assist our mission. On October 11, 2019….Mikayla Tolen organized a group to work an aid station at the huge Chicago Marathon. Twenty-four volunteers wore Patrick Lives On t-shirts or dressed in blue/gold to pass out drinks & snacks, cheer on runners & clean up afterwards. A donation shall be made to our non profit as a result. Patrick lives on for many reasons, including…..TO ENCOURAGE HEALTHY LIFESTYLES!!!
Submissions are now being accepted for our 4th Annual Showcase until Jan. 31st. Submit your film and help us spread the word!
Fall 2019
The 4th Annual Variety Show was a great success! This year NBC’s Rob Stafford and LeeAnn Trotter were hosts to many talented actors and special guests. We wanted you to see how your donations are being used, so we had some of our scholarship recipients showcase their talents! They played the guitar, the keyboards, distributed repaired computers to organizations in need, created artwork, and delivered two riveting theatrical performances.
The evening was intimate and a one-of-a kind heartfelt experience which helped us raise $30,000 to continue helping Chicagoland kids stay safe and productive!
NBC’s Rob Stafford and LeeAnn Trotter did a wonderful job as our Emcees.
They joined our family this year and jumped right in with their big hearts and joyful enthusiasm.
Thank you Rob & LeeAnn & NBC!!
A Special thanks to our amazing Sponsors and Donors! Their generosity covered all of the event’s operating costs which means all of the net proceeds go directly to assisting our mission! And thank you to The Chop Shop for providing such a wonderful environment!!
PATRICK LIVES ON WILL HELP AT THE CHICAGO MARATHON!
Mikayla Tolen and Madalyn Tomaschko have been busy! On October 13th, they’re leading a group of volunteers representing Patrick Lives On to man an Aid Station at the the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
They’ll be part of a team that keeps participants hydrated and motivated throughout every step of their 26.2-mile journey! And… If they organize a group of 25 volunteers, Patrick Lives On receives a financial donation!!!
All volunteers will be wearing our T-Shirts, so if you have the time please join them or just stop by to say hello!
“Playtime” with Bill Turck and Kerri Kendall are helping spread the word.
Not only did they interview Patricia for their WCGO 1590 Radio Station, but they also put our logo as a banner on their Facebook Page!!
Each Sunday at 1:00pm they bring an unprecedented look at the good, the bad and the wacky in Art, Theater, Music and Entertainment.
Be sure to give them a listen!!!
Summer 2019
HAPPY SUMMER and HAPPY 4th of JULY!
Hard to believe that we are already well into the Summer months, especially since the weather does not feel much like Summer in Chicago. As usual, we are staying busy. We have helped approximately 40 kids attend Summer Camp in 2019. They are playing football, soccer, tennis and cheerleading. They are learning to cook and play musical instruments. They are staying busy, productive, and safe!
This is all because of your support!.
We thank you for helping us to help others.

MAINE WEST HIGH SCHOOL FUNDRAISING CAMPAIGN
Each year the students of Maine West High School raise money for a charity. Since Patrick would have been a Senior, the students chose to support Patrick Lives On for the 2018-2019 school year. Student and Faculty raised $6,720.19 over six months through various fundraisers including a basketball game, a film festival, t-shirt & bracelet sales, raffles and Weststock III (teacher bands!) The Yearbook featured a lovely two-page spread on Patrick and our non-profit. This is a huge turning point for the Frontain/Boswell Family… another milestone to live through without our dear Patrick.
THE PATRICK BOSWELL COURAGE AWARD
Congratulations to our 2019 PBCA Award Winners for demonstrating courage through their acts of kindness, empathy, and compassion. 8th graders throughout District 62 received nominations from their peers for this award!
The Patrick Boswell Courage Award honors the memory of Patrick who lost his life to a senseless act of gun violence at the age of 14. The award provides financial support to foster “acts of courage”
among middle school students who vote for an 8th-grade student who exemplifies positive, productive behavior. It takes courage to say no to guns and gangs and violence. It takes courage to be kind and empathetic to your peers. It takes courage to stand up to bullies and treat people the way you want to be treated. Positive behavior needs to be encouraged, commended and rewarded!
One student stated that “Sage stands up not only for herself but others too. You can always see her helping others. She is never excluding…. She helps out kids who are too afraid to stand up for
themselves.”

MOMS DEMAND ACTION.
This inspiring & educational book is a must read for all of America despite gender or political party affiliation.
Fight Like a Mother is an incredible account of how one mother’s cry for change became the driving force behind gun safety progress. Along with stories of perseverance, courage, and compassion, Watts shines a light on the unique power of women—starting with what they have, leading with their maternal strengths, and doubling down instead of backing down. While not everyone can be lobbying Congress, every mom is already a multi-tasking organizer, and Shannon explains how to go from an amateur activist to have a real impact in your community and beyond. Fight Like a Mother will inspire everyone—mothers and fathers, students and teachers, lawmakers, and anyone motivated to enact change—passing laws that save lives.
Your contributions help keep our kids safe and engaged, offering them a pathway to success. You can help by spreading the word, volunteering, by making a cash or donations-in-kind, sponsor an event, and more!
