The Patrick Boswell Courage Award

The Patrick Boswell Courage Award honors Patrick’s memory by fostering acts of courage among middle school students. Voted on by peers, the award recognizes 8th-grade students who embody kindness, empathy, and standing against violence and bullying, inspiring a safer, more compassionate community.

These films inspire courage and spark meaningful change, reaching schools, counseling centers, detention facilities, and youth clubs.

The Patrick Lives On Film Showcase & Fundraiser

Patrick Lives On hosts mission-driven events that raise funds for the Patrick Boswell Courage Award, including the Patrick Lives On Film Showcase & Fundraiser. These engaging events bring communities together while providing financial support to inspire acts of courage and positive change.

The Patrick Boswell Courage Award

This award honors the memory of Patrick and provides financial support to foster “acts of courage” among middle school students.

Students vote for an 8th-grade student who exemplifies positive, productive behavior. It takes courage to say no to guns and gangs and violence. It takes courage to be kind and empathetic to your peers. It takes courage to stand up to bullies and treat people the way you want to be treated. Positive behavior needs to be encouraged, commended and rewarded!

Patrick Lives On will pay up to $500 to the after school or summer camp program of the recipient’s choice.

Film Collective

The Patrick Lives On Film Collective currently has three films available.

“As a therapist and COO of a mental health organization, I would highly recommend the Patrick Lives On Film Collective. Our world can be a very scary place that often leaves us unable to talk about the vast impact events have on us. Each film offers a starting point for understanding, support, and dialogue. While the films tackle different experiences, each one offers its own sense of real embodiment. They are powerful for community discussion or effective for the use in therapy. If you need a place to start the dialogue on these difficult topics, you have an opportunity here.”

Jeffrey Wolfe, Chief Operating Officer, Institute for therapy through the Arts

“As a clinical therapist, I have found that films like LIGHT exploring grief and loss can be incredibly impactful tools for my clients. These films available on PLO’s website allow individuals to see their own experiences reflected back to them in a way that feels validating and less isolating. By watching characters navigate similar struggles, my clients often find language for their own emotions and gain new perspectives on how to cope. Viewing stories portrayed in a film like THE FOLLOWER helps create a safe space to process difficult feelings, offering both emotional release and insight. They serve as a catalyst for healing, enabling clients to confront their pain while recognizing that growth and resilience are possible.”
